RWA JOB SHADOWING PROGRAMME

What is Job Shadowing?

Job shadowing is a work experience option where students learn about a job by walking through the work day as a shadow to a competent worker. The job shadowing work experience is a temporary, unpaid exposure to the workplace in an occupational area of interest to the student.  Students witness firsthand the work environment, employability and occupational skills in practice, the value of professional training and potential career options.

Job shadowing is designed to increase career awareness, help model student behaviour through examples and reinforce in the student the link between classroom learning and work requirements.

Where did they go?

RWA students have enjoyed their job shadowing experience at various organizations in and around Dubai.  Some of these appear below.

This week long job shadowing programme at Emirates really helped me learn about the IT department and how they work with businesses. This would help me not only gear up for the future, but also decide where my interests lie. There was a lot to learn and even a week was not enough to look around the workplace and meet everyone.

Riwa Kulkarni, Grade 11, 2017-18

This was such an amazing experience for me. After coming here I was able to learn about the structure of the agency and about what each part of the company does. I was able to watch the immense amount of effort that goes into adverts and how the smallest of details are looked at and fine-tuned. It was also really interesting to see how before the advertisement is sent to the client, there are so many things that are being changed which are all branched off of the key visual.

Emma Thomas, Grade 11, 2017-18

In this job shadowing experience with an advertising company taught me many beneficial things that I can use in the future. Although it may not be the best fit for my interests I still managed to learn new information about how the advertising system works and general working tips.

Dana Mohamed, Grade 11, 2017-18
